Jan Esterkin has been practicing Educational Therapy in Santa Monica since 2001 after graduating from UCLA's certificated program in Educational Therapy. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and earned two graduate degrees, one from Boston University in Elementary Education, and one from Loyola Marymount University in Education, Counseling and Guidance.
Jan began her career as a classroom teacher and a resource specialist teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District. She was also a learning specialist at Stephen S. Wise School, and an assistant teacher at The John Thomas Dye School, St. Martin of Tours, and Kenter Canyon Elementary School. Jan was a member of The Learning Studio, an educational therapy resource program at Canyon Charter School and at Kenter Canyon Elementary School.
Through her 12 years of practicing educational therapy, Jan has developed a unique approach to working with her students. She encourages success and a positive outlook toward school and learning, while creating an energetic, educational atmosphere through her empathy, sense of humor, and enthusiasm.
Jan is a professional member of the Association of Educational Therapists (AET), an international organization dedicated to "helping individuals become successful learners" (aetonline.org). She is currently a study group leader for the association.
